Former Nittany Lions in 2010 NF

Nine former Nittany Lions will also be patrolling the sidelines as part of NFL coaching staffs when training camps kickoff. They include Gary Brown (Cleveland Browns jerseys), Sam Gash (Detroit Lions), Ron Heller (Miami Dolphins), Mike Munchak (Tennessee Titans), John McNulty (Arizona Cardinals), Jeff Nixon (Philadelphia Eagles), Paul Pasqualoni (Dallas Cowboys), Darren Perry (Green Bay Packers), and Michael Zordich (Philadelphia Eagles). Former six-year Penn State assistant Jim Caldwell is entering his second season as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts after leading the franchise to Super Bowl XLIV in his first year.

Penn State has had at least one alumnus on a Super Bowl jerseys team in 39 of 44 title games. Thirty-two former Nittany Lions have earned a total of 48 Super Bowl rings.

Thirty-six Nittany Lions have been NFL first round draft choices since 1966, including defensive tackle Jared Odrick, whom the Miami Dolphins selected with the No. 28 overall pick in 2009. A school record four Nittany Lions were selected in the first round of the 2003 NFL football jerseys Draft.

More than 360 Nittany Lions have signed NFL contracts since Joe Paterno became head coach in 1966. The Hall of Fame coach has seen 275 of his players drafted by NFL squads.

Tennessee quarterback Kerry Collins, who is entering his 16th season, tops the former Lions in NFL seniority. He ranks third among active signal callers in yards (38,618) and completions (3,279). Receiver Bobby Engram, who signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, is in his 15th season. He has registered 650 career receptions, good enough for 13th among active players, for 7,751 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns. Collins and Engram were first team All-Americans on Penn State's 12-0 Big Ten Championship squad in 2004.

Eight players from Penn State's 2009 Capital One Bowl champion team are vying to make NFL squads as rookies: Navorro Bowman (San Francisco 49ers), Josh Hull (St. Louis Rams), Dennis Landolt (New York Giants), Sean Lee (Dallas Cowboys), Jared Odrick (Miami Dolphins), Andrew Quarless (Green Bay Packers), Mickey Shuler (Minnesota Vikings), and A.J. Wallace (Miami Dolphins).
The Buffalo Bills jerseys once again feature a league-high four former Nittany Lions on its roster, including veterans Bryan Scott and Paul Posluszny and second-year players Aaron Maybin and Lydell Sargeant. Three NFL teams, the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants, each have three Penn Staters on their rosters.

AFC WEST Denver Broncos And Kansas City Chiefs

Denver Broncos

Fantasy Studs -- Thanks to Josh McDaniels, Denver has no fantasy studs anymore. They traded the only two they had! Aside from a possible emergence of Knowshon Moreno, the Bronco offense projects to be ineffective.

Breakout -- All is not loss for Denver's fantasy impact. As stated above, Knowshon Moreno figures to be more involved offensively. It's not out of the realm of possibility to see him achieve 1,000 yards rushing and emerge as a No. 2 fantasy RB.

Sleeper -- After a stellar rookie season, Eddie Royal jersey disappeared in 2009. His drop-off was highly disappointing for fantasy players. With that said, someone has got to pickup the slack, so Royal is worth keeping an eye on throughout preseason and in September.

Player to Avoid -- If you're going to take one thing away from this piece, avoiding Denver's QBs is a good choice. Kyle Orton has never been an effective fantasy QB. Plus, the team traded away Brandon Marshall, who was it's top playmaker. Also, there are some young guys breathing down Orton's neck, but neither Brady Quinn or Tim Tebow should even be considered if they are lucky enough to get playing time.

Rookies -- Now don't go drafting any of these players, but the Broncos fooball jerseyshave some intriguing rookie WRs. Demaryius Thomas will get the first shot, but his transition to the NFL might be difficult. At Georgia Tech, he didn't run an NFL route tree, which could hinder his development early on. If by any chance his development were to stall, Eric Decker could possibly make some noise. But this is for only very deep fantasy leagues. The probability isn't very high of either of these guys helping you in a 12 or 14 team league.

Defense -- After overachieving a year ago, Denver's defense will come back to reality in 2010. Losing coordinator Mike Nolan might be the biggest reason why. With him out of the picture, the Broncos will turn to their third defensive coordinator in three years. That can't be good for continuity. However, Elvis Dumervil should continue to be one of the AFC's best sack artists. If you're in an IDP league, he's definitely worth grabbing.

Kansas City Chiefs

Fantasy Studs -- Forget about Thomas Jones, Jamaal Charles is the elite fantasy player in Kansas City. A year ago, he topped 1,000 yards rushing, including four consecutive 100-plus yard games to close out the season. His 259 yards in week 17 was a team record. Selecting him as a No. 2 fantasy RB wouldn't be a waste.

Breakout -- After spending a year in Todd Haley's doghouse, new Dwayne Bowe jersey should be a vital part of the Chiefs' offense. His ability and Charlie Weis' offensive mind mesh together well. From a pure talent stand point, he's head and shoulders the top receiving threat the Chiefs have.

Sleeper -- Considering coach Haley is hard on his players, there isn't a guarantee Bowe works his way out of the doghouse. If that's the case, Chris Chambers will reap the reward. Last year, with the Chiefs, he had 608 receiving yards in only nine games. That can be projected to over 1,000 yards over the course of a 16-game season. Still, his fantasy value is pretty much dependant on whatever happens with Bowe, as this isn't an offense big enough for two solid fantasy WRs.

Player to Avoid -- Not that I would avoid Thomas Jones entirely, but he's not your ordinary RB coming off a 1,400 yard season. He'll take a backseat to Charles and figures to be a bench player at best.

Rookie -- Don't be surprised if Eric Berry makes a run at defensive rookie of the year. However, if there is a rookie gem, it's Dexter McCluster. The all-purpose player will definitely get some looks all over the field, but he'll probably make his biggest impact in the return game. If you're in a league that rewards points in the return game, he's worth looking into.

Defense -- Look, the fact is Kansas City's defense is putrid. They don't have any pass rush and they don't generate turnovers. Oh by the way, they give up a lot yards and points. Fellow fantasy players, avoid this defense at all costs.

The Bengals Are Being Overlooked ?

Cincinnati have not won a playoff game in 20 years and their slide at the end of last season has many thinking that their winning the North last year was a fluke and lightning won't strike twice. The new Ravens jerseysare expected to roll right over the division, but you can never count out the reigning champs. Don't expect the Bengals to lay down. They're not going to go away quietly and whoever wins this division is going to have to earn it.

The Bengals started off 7-2 only to go 3-4 to close the season and lost three of their last four games. They then lost to an upstart NY Jets team in the wild-card round. Their slump at the tail end of last year may also weigh in on the minds of those picking against them this year.

What was a concern for the Bengals is that they didn't nearly play their best football in December. In the last month of the season, the team slumped and needed a tight 17-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16 to clinch the division.

Perhaps the biggest reason for the Bengals success last season was a perfect 6-0 record against their division. Their defence outplayed all other defenses in the division, including those big bad Ravens and "the Steel Curtain." With the Bengals finishing the season at 10-6, their six wins against their division helped drop Pittsburgh out of the playoffs and forced the Ravens to settle for a wild-card spot.

Last year, the team also had one of the best defenses in the league and they have continued to improve. They have more depth and the pieces seem to be in place for another good season from them.

Cincinnati improved their passing game as they hope that WR Antonio Bryant can regain his old form. It certainly should be easier for Bryant not being on a lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Rookie tight end (TE) Jermaine Gresham can also make an immediate impact and is expected to catch between 40 to 50 passes right off the bat.

However, it may be just as foolish to write off the Bengals. They may have had their share of controversy this offseason with the arrest of star running back (RB) Cedric Benson, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the new Steelers jerseyoffseason. They have done several things to address last year's weaknesses as well.

It is still foolish to completely write off the Steelers though.

We know why the Steelers have fallen out of the picture, at least according to many experts. No Holmes, no Big Ben to start and their defence last season showed that they were human once Troy Polamalu got hurt. They also gave up four touchdowns off of kick returns and lost to AFC cellar dwellers in Oakland, Kansas City, and Cleveland, which ultimately doomed their season.

While it is very easy, and the most logical pick, to take the Ravens, the rest of their division aren't exactly pushovers either.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded away Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes, and Ben Roethlisberger jersey or "Big Ben," is suspended for 4-6 games to start the season. Nevertheless, people are looking at the Steelers to either finish second, or even surprise the Ravens and retake their spot on top.

The Ravens acquired wide receiver (WR) Anquan Boldin this offseason, which gives them a long awaited playmaking receiver.

With the spectacular offseason work the Baltimore Ravens have had and the disastrous offseason that the Pittsburgh Steelers have had, it's understandable why the Ravens are the favorites heading into this season.

The Cincinnati Bengals may be the reigning AFC North Champions, but it certainly wouldn't seem that way.

Trade proposal

Check out my profile for future updates on my fantasy football team.  Do you have any fantasy football questions for me? If so, put them in the comments section.

I would not want to wait at least four weeks to get a full strength Heath Miller, so that is another reason why I declined this trade offer.

Ben's replacement should target mainly Hines Ward or Mike Wallace, thereby diminishing Miller's fantasy value.

Now the risk involved with Heath Miller is that the Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger jersey, has been suspended for at least four games by commissioner Roger Goodell but that could possibly be extended to six games if he does not stay out of trouble.

Reggie Wayne jersey is not a prized possession in fantasy football for no reason. Last season, Wayne averaged 10.8 fantasy PPG, which is very good for a wide receiver.

I realize it would have been a great move if I acquired Miller, but I declined the offer for two simple reasons: I would have given up one of the most sought-after wide receivers in fantasy football and there is too great a risk involved with Miller if I were to accept the trade.

I pondered accepting this trade because I need a legitimate starting tight end but after awhile, I decided to decline this new trade offer.

I, Dallas Cowboys Diehard, would have to give up Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne to the Holland Patriots in exchange for Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller

Starting QB - Kyle Orton vs Tim Tebow vs Brady Quinn

We start off with the battle that may be the most scrutinized in the entire new NFL jerseys during the month of August. Kyle Orton is the incumbent starter, and should begin camp ahead in this three way battle. Orton was solid, if unspectacular, as a starter in 2009, throwing for 21 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. In a league that is seeing scoring increase every year however, Orton will have to show improvement from these numbers in training camp or be in danger of losing his job.

Next in line to be under center in Denver is ex Notre Dame gunslinger new Brady Quinn jersey. After never living up to his potential in Cleveland,Quinn was traded to the Broncos in the offseason hoping that a change of scenery will reignite his career. Many would argue Quinn is the most talented of the trio and in Denver he will get every shot to prove it should be his job during camp.

Finally, we have the former Gator and Denver's 2010 first round draft pick Tim Tebow. The Broncos surprised many by taking Tebow in Aprils draft, but the man many call the greatest college player of all time certainly brings a unique skill set to the table. Unless he wows the coaching staff, new Tebow jersey will probably have to settle for a Wildcat like role this year, but with time to learn the system he has the intangibles to excel.

Predicted winner - Brady Quinn

Do you think they are good Wide Receivers?

Chad Ochocinco, Bengals

So you think I'm crazy because I have new Chad Ochocinco jersey in my top ten? Child Please. I know Carson Palmer isn't Peyton Manning. I know Chad is ranked above Welker, D-Jax, Steve Smith, Colston, Boldin, Jennings and all those guys will be drafted before him but hear me out.

If you check his stats last season he actually had a pretty good fantasy football year. Those stats have him catching 72 passes for 1,047 and nine touchdowns. I dont know about you but that's not bad for a run first offense.

With Antonio Bryant, Andre Caldwell and Jordan Shipley backing up Chad I think 85 will make the top ten. Once again that's just me, but if you draft him you could make your other owners Kiss Da Baby.

Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals

ahh good ol Larry Fitz football jersey. He's been one of the best fantasy wide receivers if not the best for the last couple of seasons. So why is only number 10? Kurt Warner.

With Kurt's retirement and Arizona's remaining quarterbacks: Matt Leinart and Derek Anderson not having great track records, Fitz will have to make the plays they cant get him the plays.

He did have 97 catches for 1,092 yards and thirteen touchdowns, the most on the list so far. As mentioned before he may not be a top five guy but he'll still get your fantasy points. Thanks a lot Kurt Warner!!!

DeSean Jackson, Eagles

Mr. Wheels. With the recent departure of Donovan McNabb, I had to put D-Jax right on the edge of my top 10. If your leagues give points for return yardage D-Jax will not only be in the top 10 but he could crack the top five.

His ability to go deep and use his speed to separate from the defense is incredible. He really stepped into the spotlight last season but losing a veteran in McNabb will hurt.

DeSean had 62 catches for 1,156 yards and nine touchdowns, while he did lose his quarterback Kevin Kolb should be able to look for DeSean in big situations. If this is true DeSean may crack the top five, but until then not quite.

Wes Welker jersey, Patriots

Yes I know he is injured. Welker tore his ACL and MCL joints in his knee during the regular season finale but only needed surgery on his ACL. Things looked shady for Welker, when would he be back? For some fantasy owners they were ready to trade him right away in keeper leagues.

There was no reason for such a high panic. Some reports are saying that Wes might be cleared by doctors for the start of training camp if this is true and they don't place him on the Physically Unable to Perform or PUP list. Get this guy.

He had 124 catches last year, going for 1,348 yards and four touchdowns. He won't get you the touchdown numbers but the yards and catches make him one of the most valuable pieces on any PPR teams. Get him while you can, I think his health will be just fine.

Steve Smith pt 2, Giants

The "other" Steve Smith, I am so high on this guy who has finally proved himself! Well sort of. With the Giants' running game in question Eli football jersey was able to turn to this kid out of USC and make the fans in New Jersey say Plaxico who?

So why am I so high on him? 107 receptions for 1,220 yards and seven touchdowns. If I'm so high on him then why is he outside my top ten? Inconsistent. His big games came in spurts and he wasn't much of a deep ball guy.

With that said he's a steal in rounds 4-5 but many will pass him up. Be smart get him while you can. Eli will pass to him a lot and Eli kinda knows what he's doing.

Bills Individual Tickets On Sale Today

Thinking about making the plunge and splurging for some tickets? Here's some highlights of the matchups you get to choose from:

Team: Miami Dolphins
Date: September 12, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: Wide receiver Brandon Marshall in his first game for the Dolphins jerseys might be as good a reason as any to see the Dolphins this season. He gives Miami a legitimate top target for young quarterback Chad Henne to operate with. But the Dolphins' defense took a big time step back last season. While they added inside linebacker Karlos Dansby in the off-season, they will have two brand new starting rush outside linebackers. Plus their young cornerbacks struggled last season and will be looked at to improve dramatically this year.

Team: New York Jets
Date: October 3, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: You have to love it when one team in a single off-season tries to add every big name they can in an effort to win a championship that same year. There's plenty of personalities in the Jets' locker room, with none bigger than head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan is a treat to watch on the sidelines during a game. Here's another factor, for those of you that are fans of the HBO series "Hard Knocks." The Jets football jerseys are the featured team, so fans who watch the personalities on their television every week might gravitate toward wanting to see them on the field in their home town.

Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Date: October 10, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: In my opinion this is the least interesting game on the schedule for the Bills. Jacksonville and Buffalo hold no real rivalry, but yet it seems as though they play one another every single season. The only player that might draw you in is running back Maurice Jones-Drew, but he's coupled with quarterback David Garrard who seems like he's on his last legs as a starting quarterback. Match all that with an uninteresting draft and you don't exactly have the sexiest pick for all eight games.

Team: Chicago Bears
Date: November 7, 2010 - 1:00 PM - Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON
Reason You Might Want to Go: Fans of Buffalo sports teams have a chance for a nice little weekend in Toronto. The Sabres are in Toronto taking on the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday night, November 6. Then the next day the Bills are at the Rogers Centre matching up against the Chicago Bears. Standout safety Jairus Byrd could be in line for player of the game honors, as new offensive coordinator Mike Martz and his pass happy play calling will be mixed with Jay Cutler and his league leading 26 interceptions in 2009.

Team: Detroit Lions
Date: November 14, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: If I had the first choice in a Buffalo Bills individual game ticket draft, I'd pick this one. My reason being that the Lions are set to be not only one of the most improved next season, but one with the youngest and most exciting talent base. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr. is a treat to watch on television and getting to watch him in person might be that much more extraordinary. Pair him with former overall top pick and quarterback Matthew Stafford and first round running back Jahvid Best and this sounds like an exciting offense to watch. Plus, the Lions feature the most dominant defensive player in college football from a season ago on their defensive line in second overall pick Ndamukong Suh.

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Date: November 28, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: A Bills vs. Steelers matchup is always fun to go to, and the Ben Roethlisberger jersey factor makes it that much more enticing. There's a chance that the Steelers could limp to a disappointing start without their main signal caller, and the season could be too far gone to recover. Rashard Mendenhall is also a very exciting young back to watch, especially since Willie Parker is no longer a member of the team.

Team: Cleveland Browns
Date: December 12, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: These are two teams in serious rebuild mode, so buyer beware. An interesting story to watch over the course of the season is whether or not Mike Holmgren and Eric Mangini will stick to their original "red-shirt" plan for third round pick and quarterback Colt McCoy. Will they sit him out the entire year, or if the team struggles, will they plug him in near the end of the season? And this game would be right in the range if Holmgren and Mangini did change their minds. But again, these are two rebuilding franchises, and last year's 6-3 final between the teams should be fresh in your mind when considering this game.

Team: New England Patriots
Date: December 26, 2010 - 1:00 PM
Reason You Might Want to Go: This could be one of the final regular season games that Tom Brady plays with New England if he doesn't sign an extension. Ok, let's be real, he will almost assuredly sign an extension at some point this year. But based on the talent of the AFC East, the division might not be locked up by this point in the season for New England. This also isn't the Patriots that you're used to. The defense struggled last season, especially to put pressure on the quarterback.

There you have it, an insight on each individual home game for the 2010 season. Remember, the Bills will report to St. John Fisher College in Rochester on July 28 for the start of training camp. Keep it locked to WGR Sports Radio 550 and WGR550.com for all the latest on the Buffalo Bills.

Green Bay Packers preview

The problem was thenew Packers jerseys had a pretty good quarterback in Favre so that mean more waiting for Rodgers who finally got his shot in 2008 after Favre's messy divorce from the Packers.

In a classic case of patience being a virtue (and rewarded), Rodgers turned out to be the gracious winner.

Since taking over as the Packers QB, new Rodgers jerseys has quietly had back-to-back 4,000 yard passing seasons and thrown 58 touchdowns to 20 interceptions. He did this while gracefully excusing himself from the circus that surrounded Favre's many retirements and one nasty exit from Green Bay. Rodgers has remained classy, confident and competent.

The Packers were 11-5 in 2009, including an NFL best 11-4-1 against the spread, and the success was equal part Rodgers and the Green Bay defense. Rodgers threw for 4,434 yards, 30 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He was fourth in the league in TD's, fourth in passer rating (103.2) and fourth in passing yards.

As a result, Green Bay enjoyed one of its best statistical seasons ever, finishing 2009 with the fifth-rated offense in the league. Rodgers' favorite targets are Greg Jennings and Donald Driver who both enjoyed stellar seasons. Jennings made 68 grabs for 1,113 and four touchdowns while Driver had 70 catches for 1,061 yards and six touchdowns. The two have caught 24 of Rodgers' 58 touchdown passes over the past two years.

Ryan Grant had his best year as a Packer with 1,253 yards rushing and led the team in touchdowns with 11. Just about everything went right for the Packers offense in 2009. From new Rodgers jersey to the receivers to the running game, there were smiles all around and Lambeau Leaps aplenty.

The Packers' defense is much better than the team that allowed 51 points against the Cardinals in the NFC Wild Card game. During the regular season Green Bay ranked in the top 10 in every major defensive category. The Packers were first against the run, fifth against the pass, second in total yards allowed per game and seventh in scoring (18.6).

Top 10 Players in History of AFC West

Easily one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

Elway made a living of outsmarting defense after defense during his 16-year career with the Broncos. The former first overall pick in the 1983 NFL draft went on to be a nine time Pro Bowler jerseys, an NFL MVP, and a two-time Super Bowl champion.

He was arguably most well-known because of his many comeback victories, especially "The Drive" against the Cleveland Browns in 1986.

Junior was, statistically speaking, the most efficient linebacker in AFC West history, and one of the most efficient that the NFL has even seen.

In his 13 years in a new Charger jerseys uniform, Seau was selected to an astonishing 12 Pro Bowls. Seau collected over 45 sacks, 14 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, 16 fumble recoveries, and over 1,200 tackles.

An elusive and smart running back, Allen is the only player on this list who played for two different AFC West teams during his career: the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was selected to six Pro Bowls while playing in both cities.

Like a few others on this list, he is in the new NFL jerseys Hall of Fame.

Arguably the best defensive back to ever play in the division.

He was the only DB to ever be selected to eight Pro Bowls within the division.

He tallied 1,038 career tackles for the Denver Broncos, including an insane 173 in 1990, his second year in the league.

He had a nose for making plays, and was one of the most physical safeties that anyone will ever see in the AFC West, let alone the rest of the NFL.

the contract of Pierre Thomas

Over the past three years, new Pierre Thomas jerseys has given the Saints much more than they bargained for when they signed the undrafted free-agent out of the University of Illinois.

Thomas has remained a professional. He has not publicly complained nor criticized the Saints’ front office, he has attended some voluntary workouts, and he has signed his tender to ensure that he is a member of the 2010 Saints.

As if this was not enough frustration for Thomas, he watched as the Saints made his teammate Reggie Bush the highest paid running back in the NFL while continuing to bargain and negotiate with Thomas.

The numbers above put in perspective exactly how underpaid Pierre Thomas has been throughout his career. For both his workload ($/Touch) and his performance ($/Yard), Thomas has not been compensated on nearly the same level as his counterparts in the division.

"The reality is with running backs, he's in the prime of his career," Smith said of Thomas. "Running backs have some of the shortest careers in the NFL and are often let go after they're 30. If he doesn't get a big contract when he's in the prime of his career, then when does he get security?"

Thomas has missed portions of the voluntary offseason workout program and minicamp after he’s been one of the key figured for the offense. He led the team with 793 rushing yards and six touchdowns last season. He has not signed his RFA tender and the possibility exists he will not.

New Orleans football jerseys general manager Mickey Loomis indicated the sides are “far apart” and you have to wonder if that gap will be closed over the summer or if the Saints will have a disgruntled running back who was tendered for $1.7 million as a restricted free agent in training camp.

“The Saints have refused to negotiate with us. They've given us one proposal,” Thomas’ agent Lamont Smith said. "Pierre made the new NFL jerseys minimum (salary) the last three years and was their leading rusher the last two. He made all the plays necessary. … He's done all the right things. He played his (first) contract out."

Per the story, the Saints have not offered Thomas as much as the $11 million, three-year offer that fullback Leonard Weaver received from the Philadelphia Eagles. How or why Thomas is being compared to Weaver isn’t known. It’s also unknown how much Thomas is seeking, but surely he’s looking for something North of $4 million annually.

The New Orleans Saints have lowballed running back Pierre Thomas with a contract offer, according to a report by the Associated Press, and the sides remain far apart on a possible longterm extension

New of Ed Reed in Baltimore and Pittsburgh Steelers

Does that mean we were wrong about Mays? Not yet, as the NFL game changes, takes a step forward and becomes so much more demanding when the pads go on in August. That is when the real competition begins and players start to separate themselves.
But, when we hear Singletary—a former player himself—speak so highly of a rookie, then we should listen. He sees it everyday and is a good judge of talent.
Bottom line: you draft safeties in the first round if you project them to make plays at the NFL level. That’s it. Guys like cheap Ed Reed jerseys, Troy Polamalu, Darren Sharper, etc. They have staying power in this league because they show up and create impact situations on the field. If he can stay healthy, the Steelers defense will be elite again. If not, it will be another long season in the Steel City. The Pro-Bowl safety, a human eraser just like Ed Reed in Baltimore, is looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled 2009. With Polamalu playing in only five games, the Steelers’ secondary was their Achilles’ heel.
Pittsburgh jerseys Steelers: Bookended by James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley, the relentless Steelers terrorize quarterbacks with the best of them. And they’ll be stout against the run again thanks to Aaron Smith’s return to the lineup. dicount Troy Polamalu jerseys (left, photo by AP) is the X-factor.
Think of the Steelers in 2009 without Polamalu. Lose one elite player and the defense doesn’t play or produce in the same way. The turnovers were down on the Steelers defense last season, and we saw a unit that couldn’t close out games. Unusual when we talk about a Pittsburgh defense.
The club went out and signed former Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin recently as a backup plan. A good play and a good pickup—as Hamlin can still start in this league—but the impact isn’t the same.
But, with Ed Reed recovering from reconstructive hip surgery, and saying that he is at “35 percent” in late June, is there a slight sense of concern in Baltimore?
APWill supply Baltimore jerseys have Reed at safety to start the regular season?
When we talk about the safety position, those elite players are Baltimore’s Ed Reed and Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu. No different than a defense preparing for a Randy Moss or a Larry Fitzgerald, offensive coaches have to alter the way they call plays throughout a ball game because of the direct impact Reed and Polamalu can have on Sundays.
